Hey there! My name is Pete Brennan, and I'm proud to be running for the Board of Directors of Oklahomans for Equality! I'm a born and raised Tulsan and I've just returned home after several years away cultivating a career as a theatre artist. I'm interested in joining the Board of OkEq because I believe that intersectional advocacy is the key to our future as a movement. By joining forces with our brothers and sisters of color, feminist allies, and other marginalized communities, we are stronger. I believe that, as a white, cisgender, gay male, my role in the LGBTQ+ community, as well as the theatre world and beyond, should be that of facilitator for others, so that they might have a stronger voice and advance. Additionally, I believe that theatre outreach and education can be used to chip away at systemic oppression for the benefit of multiple communities. OkEq has an excellent opportunity to implement new and innovative programs in that arena, and I couldn't be more excited to help in that effort as a potential board member. I look forward to the progress we will achieve in the coming years!
