LGBTQ+ HISTORY PROJECT

Launched by OkEq in 2002, The Tulsa Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBTQ+) History Project, which is online at history.okeq.org, uncovers, preserves and presents the rich contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people within the state of Oklahoma, with a particular emphasis on Tulsa and the Northeast Oklahoma area.

The History Project seeks to understand the contributions, sacrifices, and dedication of our LGBTQ+ community and its many supporters through gathering and indexing documents, sponsoring lecturers/speakers, writing news stories, conducting oral and video interviews, and creating a permanent and accessible archives at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center.

Be a Part of Your History
Interested individuals and organizations are encouraged to participate in capturing the rich history of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBTQ+) and allied community.

Volunteer
Conduct interviews, organize data, digitize material, prepare typewritten transcripts and speak to interested groups about the Tulsa LGBTQ+ History Project. Computer expertise required.

Contribute Materials

You may have materials that can be archived or copied and added to the Project’s exhibits. You may also know of individuals or organizations who can contribute material or should be interviewed as part of the Project’s efforts. Please contact us at historyproject@okeq.org about such contributions.

Financial Support
You can help ensure that future generations learn about the rich history of the LGBTQ+ and allied community. The Tulsa LGBTQ+ History Project relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and foundations to carry out its important work. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the Tulsa LGBTQ+ History Project.
