Artist Bio: Garon Ebersole (He/Him/His)
Garon Ebersole is a local artist and native Tulsan. Growing up in Broken Arrow, he attended Union High school and graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Business Administration degree. Garon has continued to work and live in the Tulsa area.
Creativity was always a strength, but Garon has only been painting for a few years. After several trips to the local paint and sips, he decided to sign up for some lessons at the Tulsa Art Center with Marie Sullivan. After several months of instruction and collaboration with Marie, Garon started experimenting with several techniques in his garage at home. He continues to paint at home but has upgraded from the garage to a studio in a converted bedroom.
Garon is primarily an abstract artist, influenced by impressionism and expressionism. His art evolves as he paints. When starting a new piece, the only preparation is picking the canvas size, the paint colors, and maybe what technique he wants to use. Garon uses colors, sheen, and layering to create depth and texture. His favorite pieces happen purely by accident. Sometimes it takes starting over mid-painting to get a better result, but unfortunately impossible to recreate.
Garon has exhibited in the Tulsa Art Crawl and even donated pieces to local charities. One of those donations was for the 2019 Equality Gala benefiting OKEQ. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Garon was honored to exhibit his work at OKEQ. “I believe in the great work OKEQ does for our community, and to be able to support that by doing something I love is an honor.”
The show opens at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center located at 621 E. 4th Street Tulsa OK 74120 on Sunday, May 2nd with Covid measures in place. The show continues throughout the month.
